Rick Law, Chief Operating Officer

Rick Law became State Fund’s Chief Operating Officer effective January 1, 2015. 

Law has been working with State Fund since January 2013 as a consultant providing expertise and guidance to our Field Operations, Corporate Marketing and Underwriting Departments specifically in the areas of broker segmentation and management, group insurance, underwriting and technology.

Prior to joining State Fund, he was President of Allstate Business Insurance where had responsibility for profit/loss management, product/market strategy, business development and talent management for the commercial insurance division. He also served as the President of Zurich Small Business where he was responsible for a $1.5 Billion premium division of Zurich North America which included providing commercial insurance products to small business owners as well as managing and distributing Zurich Insurance Services Builder’s Risk Program.

Law was with The Hartford for 25 years, where he served in a variety of key positions including Senior Vice President of Field Operations Sales and Marketing and Vice President and Director for the Risk Management Division.

He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Political Economics from John Hopkins University.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The COO reports to the President and CEO. He oversees Field Operations and Corporate Marketing and has a shared responsibility for Safety and Health Services with the CEO. He will also work closely with the CFO on Billing and Collections and Premium Audit.
