State Fund and Cal/OSHA Seminars Stress Dangers of Heat in Outdoor Work

BAKERSFIELD, CA --- State Compensation Insurance Fund and Cal/OSHA Consultation are holding free local seminars in an effort to prevent heat illness by encouraging employers to protect workers during hot summer weather.

The events are scheduled for June 1 in Bakersfield.

Seminar information and resources will help employers, supervisors, and trainers prevent heat illness among their workers.

Attendees will learn best practice solutions for protecting their employees from heat-related illnesses, and how to update their safety programs to include a heat illness prevention plan and comply with heat illness standards.

As an added incentive, those who attend the event can receive 2 hours of continuing education credit from Cal/OSHA and the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) towards their Farm Labor Contractor continuing education requirement.

Registration and complimentary continental breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m. for the morning session in English, which ends at 11:00 a.m. An afternoon session will be held in Spanish, with registration and refreshments at 12:30 p.m. The seminar will run from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The seminars take place at the State Fund Bakersfield Office, 9801 Camino Media.
