Alvin Cheung, Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning

Alvin Cheung was appointed Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning in January of 2018. In this role, he oversees Customer Experience, Innovation Design Center, Enterprise Project Management Office, and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A). Alvin is also responsible for providing executive leadership and direction for State Fund’s overall financial strategies and planning.

Alvin joined State Fund as a consultant in 2013 to build and lead the FP&A department. He provided expertise and guidance by implementing financial best practices and tools. He worked closely with the Executive Committee on strategic and financial planning as well as strategic updates for the Board of Directors.

Alvin has more than 20 years of finance experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining State Fund, he served as Director of Financial Planning and Performance Management for the CSAA Insurance Group. He was responsible for leading the enterprise planning process, financial management reporting, competitive benchmarking, and cost accounting systems.

Alvin began his insurance career with the CSAA Insurance Group in 1996, and held various finance positions throughout his years of service.

Alvin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from San Francisco State University.
