Established in 1914 by the state legislature, State Fund is California's most reliable provider of workers' compensation insurance and a vital asset to California businesses. Carla Anene, Executive Vice President of Corporate Claims

Carla was named Executive Vice President of Corporate Claims in June 2022, and assumed leadership of Corporate Claims and the Claims Processing Center (CPC). She also continues to provide leadership to Claims Legal.

Carla began her career in workers’ compensation in 1990 as a claims adjuster in State Fund’s San Francisco office, and has also worked as an adjuster in the private sector. Following her law school graduation, she worked as a private sector worker’s compensation defense attorney in a law firm and as in-house counsel. She returned to State Fund in 2001 as Staff Counsel for San Francisco Legal, and was promoted to Staff Counsel III (Specialist) for Oakland/Pleasanton Legal in 2005; to Assistant Chief Counsel of San Francisco Legal in 2010; to Deputy Chief Counsel in 2012; and to Chief Counsel Technical in 2016. She was appointed Claims Legal Chief Counsel and joined State Fund’s Executive Committee in 2021.

Carla is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
