Marj Hutchings became State Fund’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) in September of 2012. She brings 32 years of experience in technology, 19 of which are specific to the insurance industry. As CIO, she is responsible for the successful administration of the IT organization, overseeing daily operations and high-level planning for technology. She also serves on the Executive Committee.
Leading the team responsible for completely rewriting the claims and policy applications for the NextGen project, Marj is overseeing the process to replace more than a dozen existing, independent systems with a single software suite.
Before joining State Fund, Marj was an original member of the technology team for an insurance start up whose business strategy was founded on delivering superior technology. Her experience includes work with property and casualty claims systems, property and casualty rate/quote/issue systems, online/real time customer-facing web platforms, virtualization of production systems, and the implementation of a private cloud, data security protocols, and network/applications standards for internet-based insurance transactions, and active vendor management producing on time/on budget performance.
Marj graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Computer Information Systems from Northern Arizona University. She also earned the Leadership Fellow designation from the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD).
