State Fund Launches New Online Tools to Make Doing Business Easier

December 17, 2010

State Fund today introduced four new online tools to make it easier to do business, and help California businesses succeed.

The new tools are:

“California depends on small business to stoke the economy. Entrepreneurs face numerous choices and challenges when starting up a new business,” says Tom Clark, State Fund Chief Operating Officer.

“Complex regulations, procedures, licensing, and other requirements can seem overwhelming. While State Fund’s small business resource center can’t change that, it can help make sense of the process,” Clark added.

The Small Business Resource Center features:

  • Information about workers’ compensation insurance – what it is, who needs it
  • Safety information for a variety of industries
  • A business resource page with useful links to agencies that help new businesses such as Cal/OSHA, Department of Industrial Relations, Contractors State Licensing Board and more.

The Small Business Resource Center also has information about obtaining a policy directly from State Fund through the new “request a quote” feature. Through this tool, web site visitors can request a quote online and start the process of obtaining coverage with State Fund. State Fund has an open-door policy for all California business.

State Fund policyholders now have the option to use a credit card for payments, (except the deposit premium), at no additional charge. Credit card payments are a more environmentally-friendly way to pay, by saving both trees and fuel; they also help payments get posted sooner, which is especially useful if a policyholder is facing cancellation.

The new Customer Support section on the Web site is where policyholders can get answers to their most frequently-asked-questions about obtaining a policy, policy updates and changes, certificates of insurance, payroll reporting, billing, claims, renewing a policy, audits, cancellation, and contact information.

To enable businesses to get the information they need when they want it, the small business resource center and online tools are available 24/7.
