SAN FRANCISCO, CA— State Compensation Insurance Fund today announced the promotion of Jennifer Vargen from Communications Director to Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications. Vargen is also a member of State Fund’s Executive Committee.

Vargen, a San Francisco State University graduate, began her State Fund career in 1988, and her early accomplishments include being nominated the 1990 “Sales Rookie of the Year” for the organization’s San Francisco district office.

In 1995, Vargen was promoted to Sales Manager for the San Francisco office. Shortly afterward, she worked with State Fund’s management to create the district’s first Broker Services Unit. Seven years later she returned to Human Resources as Employee Services Manager.

In 2005, Vargen moved up to Marketing Operations Manager, and her accomplishments during this stint include chairing an organization-wide customer outreach program, and also steering the marketing plan for the State Fund Online policyholder rollout.

In 2007, the Executive Committee appointed Vargen as Communications Manager. In 2008 she spear headed a branding campaign which significantly impacted State Fund’s internal and external communication programs.

Last year, she served on the communications committee of the American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds (AASCIF), an association of workers' compensation insurance companies from 26 different states, plus 8 workers' compensation boards in Canada.
