Incidents of Valley Fever are on an upward trend. Over the last three years, there were 8,203 cases — an all-time high—and this year’s shaping up to be the worst on record.
Valley Fever causes headaches, fever, cough, and chills. It is typically contracted in the summer months, however, persistent drought conditions that keep the soil warm and dry has resulted in cases year round.
