Pleasanton, CA—To recognize the 30th anniversary of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and help all Californians become better prepared for future disasters, State Fund is introducing a new Earthquake Resource Center on its safety website, SafeAtWorkCA.com. The Resource Center contains materials to help employers and employees learn what to do before, during, and after an earthquake.
State Fund has actively participated in the Great California ShakeOut for many years and is encouraging all Californians to join them this year. Visitors to the State Fund Earthquake Resource Center can find a link to sign up for the ShakeOut, as well as preparedness checklists, information on what to do in specific situations, and how to prepare their workplace for an earthquake.
“In California it’s not a question of if another earthquake will occur, it’s a question of when the next one will hit,” said Sr. Vice President of Safety & Health Services Lauren Mayfield. “Knowing what to do before, during, and after an earthquake can help employers protect their employees—and their businesses.”
