March 03, 2008

PLEASANTON/SAN FRANCISCO - State Compensation Insurance Fund is offering a two-in-one seminar as part of State Fund’s Employer Education Series. Open to the public, this event features presentations by experts on both Cal/OSHA compliance and work-related back-injury prevention. The four-hour seminar entitled “In Compliance? Watch Your Back!” includes tips on how to address serious Cal/OSHA citations, details on Cal/OSHA’s 10 most cited violations, and an introduction to the innovative and interactive back-injury-prevention process provided on the acclaimed State Fund’s Back Connection® DVD. Three workers’ compensation professionals—an attorney, a senior safety engineer, and an ergonomics consultant—are scheduled to present the sessions on Wednesday morning, March 19, at the Hilton Hotel in Pleasanton, Calif.

To help employers address Cal/OSHA citations, Attorney at Law Lisa Prince provides tips on remaining profitable while meeting the demands of Cal/OSHA regulations that can be difficult to interpret. In this session employers learn how to:

  • Prepare for a Cal/OSHA inspection.
  • Navigate the inspection process.
  • Understand the Cal/OSHA appeal process.

Cal/OSHA Senior Safety Engineer Michael Donlon presents the session on Cal/OSHA's 10 most cited violations so employers can:

  • Understand the inspection process and their rights.
  • Learn which written programs are required.
  • Hear which industry groups are on the High Hazard Targeted Inspection List.
  • Find out how to use the free Cal/OSHA Consultation Service.

State Fund Ergonomics Consultant Helen Chandler introduces State Fund's Back Connection®, a unique back-injury prevention program that involves employees, who are the key to back-injury prevention.
