Seminar in Ventura May 7 Tackles Cal/OSHA Compliance & Ergonomics

April 30, 2008

VENTURA/SAN FRANCISCO – State Compensation Insurance Fund is offering a two-in-one seminar as part of State Fund’s Employer Education Series. Open to the public, this event features presentations by experts on both Cal/OSHA compliance and ergonomics. The seminar entitled ‘Cal/OSHA Compliance & Ergonomics’ includes tips on how to address serious Cal/OSHA citations, details on Cal/OSHA’s 10 most cited violations, and explores the many ways employers can reduce injuries and increase productivity through ergonomics. The event is scheduled for May 7, at the Ventura Beach Marriot Hotel.

To help employers address Cal/OSHA citations, Dan Shipley and Hassan Adan from Cal/OSHA’s Enforcement Unit will lecture on the following benefits:

  • Gain a basic understanding to the inspection process and employer’s rights
  • Discover what written programs are needed.
  • Hear what industry groups are placed on the High Hazard Targeted Inspection List for 2007
  • Learn about free Consultation Services

State Fund’s Senior Ergonomist Consultant R.J. Banks will talk about ergonomics and provide compelling reasons why it should be part of any safety program. Banks earned the 2005 “Employee Safety Award” from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for her ergonomics expertise. She and her State Fund ergonomics staff provide ergonomics solutions to policyholders of all sizes and industries.

The seminar will take place at the Ventura Beach Marriott Hotel, 2055 Harbor Boulevard, Ventura, on Wednesday, May 7, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. On-site registration and complimentary continental breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m.
