SAN BERNARDINO/SAN FRANCISCO – State Compensation Insurance Fund will sponsor a comprehensive injury and illness prevention seminar in San Bernardino, April 10. The seminar, which is free to State Fund policyholders, is designed to inform employers of the importance of having an Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) in place as a way of reducing future claims.
Featured speakers at the seminar include Julia McCourt, Safety Engineer for Cal/OSHA Consultation Service, and State Fund Ergonomics Consultant Lou Vicario. McCourt will describe and explain each element of the IIPP. State Fund’s Vicario will follow with a presentation on ergonomics and why it should be an essential part of an injury and illness prevention program.

Additionally, State Fund Loss Control representatives will be on hand to assist employers in developing an IIPP, so attendees are encouraged to bring in safety notes in order to start building a written safety program.
The seminar is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at State Fund’s Inland Empire Office located at 375 W. Hospitality Lane in San Bernardino. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. A continental breakfast will be served at the event.
