State Fund Hosts Trenching Safety and Awareness Seminar

March 11, 2009

A free seminar addressing trenching and excavation work safety will be presented by State Compensation Insurance Fund in Sacramento on March 18.

The event is geared for construction general contractors, subcontractors, managers, supervisors, foremen, and laborers.

Information will be presented by Rudy Schroeder, who has extensive experience instructing Cal/OSHA Enforcement and Compliance Officers and is certified from the State Fire Marshal’s Office to train firefighters in Trench Rescue.

The seminar will review steps to take prior to digging, methods of protecting workers from hazards, and safe work practices. The dangers of construction excavations, the mechanics of trench cave-ins, and Cal/OSHA requirements will also be explored.

Registration and complimentary continental breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m. at State Fund’s Sacramento Regional Office, 2275 Gateway Oaks Drive.
