Class Codes

Classifying Workers by Industry and Type of Work

California’s standard classification system divides workers by industry and type of work into approximately 500 different classifications, each with a numeric class code. More information, including a listing of all classifications, is available from the Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau (WCIRB), which oversees the classification system.

Note: State Compensation Insurance Fund is not a branch of the State of California.
